July 16 2010 Happy Hour and Dock Party

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Music City PHiNs members Tony, Nancy, Jackie and Jeff have generously offered to host our July Happy Hour on the water at their boat dock in Hendersonville.
The party begins Friday July 16 at 6 PM and goes until 9 PM. It is at Creekwood Marina, 259 Sanders Ferry Road, Hendersonville, TN, Dock A behind the red building. Click here for a map.
There will be Margarita’s and snacks and everyone can BYOB if you want something different. There will be an MP3 player set up through the speakers on our boats for playing island music. We are also thinking of some fun games to play.
Please RSVP to Jackie jsmothers17@comcast.net or Nancy nancy.morris@comcast.net to provide an accurate count of how many pholks are expected to attend.

Plus, we’ve added a great opportunity to Party with a Purpose. The Music City PHiNs club is sponsoring a collection for the Wilson County Humane Society’s program called New Leash on Life. http://www.newleashonline.org/ New Leash on Life is dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in our community through shelter, placement, spay/neuter, education and awareness.

On Friday, during the Happy Hour, MCPHiNs members Marcia and Steve Colburn’s truck will be parked in the marina lot by Dock A and have a huge balloon tied to it for easy spotting. On your way into the party simply throw your donations into the truck bed and Steve and Marcia will deliver the load directly to the Wilson Country Humane Society that weekend.
Check out a wish list of most needed items before you scurry out to pick up doggy or kitty things:

June 18 2010 Happy Hour – UPDATED with photos

Friday, June 4th, 2010

We are so excited about our June 18 Phlocking of the Music City Phins!

We have found a great location on Old Hickory Lake – the Black Pearl Restaurant at BlackJack Cove Marina in Lakewood/Old Hickory, TN. Click here for a map.

The Board met there last week and met with the manager. They would love to host our local Parrotheads. So for our first outing there, we will reserve some tables on their deck which is right on the lake. If we all like the location, there are other options for reserving larger spaces and even a private deck area.

So, come check it out with your fellow members next Friday, June 18 at 6:00 p.m. They have a great bar menu in the area we have reserved.

Look forward to seeing you there!
Cheers,
Kat

UPDATE
About 30 pholks braved the heat to hang out on the lake for our Happy Hour.
Many thanks to ‘E’ for these photos.

Margaritaville Cafe to open in Nashville confirmed

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

From the Tennessean newspaper article by G. Chambers Williams III: Margaritaville Nashville

“We have signed a lease and we’re ready to roll,” said Mark Bloom, a principle in the Corner Partnership, which is involved in several other downtown properties including the Hilton and Union Station hotels. “Buffett wants to make music a big part of the venue here, and the café is going to appeal to the young crowd, locals and visitors to our city,” he said. “Besides the food and special drinks synonymous with Margaritaville, the music will be a special attraction.”

They hope to open by the end of the year on Lower Broadway in the 18,000-square-foot building formerly occupied by Planet Hollywood at 322 Broadway. (Map link) It has two floors, both of which will be used by the restaurant. At street level there will be a restaurant, bar and three live-music stages. The second floor will house another bar, additional restaurant seating, and a “small concert hall with state-of-the-art lighting and sound system,” Bloom said. Total seating capacity is 350, with about 200 in the concert hall upstairs. A retail shop selling Buffett music and memorabilia will be included, as well. Live music will be featured daily. The café will be open from 11 a.m.-3 a.m. seven days a week, Bloom said, and the entertainment will include “a nightly showcase of newcomers.” Buffett’s band, the Coral Reefers, is based in Nashville, and there will be a special circular staircase in the restaurant “with a family tree” paying tribute to past and present members of the band, Bloom said. Many are Nashville residents. Construction will begin in late April, and will involve a “multimillion-dollar renovation” of the building “from top to bottom”.
