At our May 1 pre-Buffett-concert party we auctioned off gift baskets donated by 18 parrothead clubs and Beach Front Radio. A total of $750 was collected for the Nashville Rescue Mission for homeless people. Here are some pictures of some of our club officers presenting the check. Left to right – Treasurer Jim Cozart, Pat from the Rescue Mission, Prez Kat Wallish, membership director Marcia Colburn. Many thanks to everyone for the gift baskets and to pholks that attended our event.

May 1 2010 pre-concert party charity update
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010Jimmy Buffett pre-concert party and concert May 1 2010 event report
Monday, May 3rd, 2010Saturday May 1st was a very wet day in Nashville, but the 275 parrot heads that signed on to tailgate with the Music City PHiNs brought with them a ray of sunshine that no downpour could dampen!! It was a PHantastically Phun and successful event and here are the reasons why:
1. Rippy’s Bar in downtown Nashville, just across from the BridgeStone Arena, provided a great party room upstairs that walked out onto the rooftop for a great view of lower Broadway. Space was limited to 275 and we maxed it out!! Thanks to Rippy’s untiring servers and bartenders who kept our phlock fed, watered and very happy!
2. DJ Jeff Allen from BeachFrontRadio.com was our amazing Master of Ceremonies. Leaving the day’s entertainment agenda in his capable hands, he kept the crowd revved up with great TropRock from the awesome BeachFront Radio library. He also had games to play, CD’s to win, and BFR tattoos and koozies for everyone! Thanks to Jeff for a wonderfully seamless flow of parrot head frenzy!
3. Ramajay Intercoastal hit the stage with a steel drum groove that took us on a Magic Cruise! Tall Paul, Quincy, Michael, Klee & Alonzo offered up an explosion of music that kept us begging for more – from older St. Somewhere and TP tunes, to new RI originals, to classic Buffett covers. Thanks to the boys for keeping it in high gear on such a gloomy day!
4. 18 Parrothead Clubs & BeachFrontRadio, generously donated gift baskets, filled with all kinds of party favors, to our Chinese Auction. By the time the tickets were sold (by those crazy Southern Illinois Pholks), the winners were called by DJ Jeff, and the baskets were in the hands of those lucky few – we had raised $750 for The Nashville Rescue Mission!! Thanks to everyone who gave!

5. Coral Reefers made time to come across the street in the pouring rain for a Meet & Great with our tailgaters! Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer & Doyle Grisham chatted, signed autographs and took pictures with lots off very happy pholks. Thanks to Debbie Grisham for arranging all of it!!
6. 275 phlockers from 18 different parrot head clubs balked at the weather forecast and came out to Party with a Purpose. I never would have thought we would see such a representation at our humble gathering. Thank you phlockers, for all the energy, phun and true parrot head participation!
7. And finally – The Music City PHiNs Board and volunteers. What is amazing to me is that since January 2010, our once little club has been newly resurrected with a new Board and 100 new members! So this Pre-Concert Tailgate Party was the first endeavor of its size that our group has coordinated together. I am very thankful to have such a hard working krewe as Steve Colburn, VP; Marcia Colburn, Membership; Jim Cozart, Treasurer; Tina Messamore, Charities and Mike Pugh, WebMaster!! And also to those eager newbies who volunteered their time to set up, work the door, sell raffle tickets, handle security and tear down….big thanks to ALL!
I have since received all kind of KUDOS for a job well done and I share those accollades with the brilliant pholks listed above that made it ALL come together and be so PHABULOUS!
Cheers & PHiNs UP!!!

April 2010 MCPHiNs event
Thursday, April 1st, 2010
Saturday April 24 – Our April charity and club event will be volunteering at the Country Music Marathon here in good old NashVegas! Here is the link to the volunteer sign-up form – http://nashville.competitor.com/volunteers/ Click on “Race Crew/Volunteer Sign-Up” and fill out the on-line form. Indicate that we will work at the finish line (so y’all don’t have to be there at 4 a.m.!) and down at the very bottom of the form, make sure that you put “Music City Phins” as your group that you’re volunteering with. This is a great way to do community service and have fun at the same time, and remember, if you volunteer you get (provided by the marathon event not MCPHiNs) a ‘race crew’ t-shirt, ‘race goodie bag’ and ticket to the Saturday evening John Rich and Heidi Newfield concert after the race! This is also a great opportunity for our club to gain some recognition in the community prior to the May 1 Jimmy Buffett concert and the Margaritaville Nashville restaurant opening in late 2010! Email our Charities Director Tina atTDM516@aol.com for more info.
