June and July MCPHINS phlockings
June 11th, 2009In June and July we are going to skip our usual Wednesday ‘Hump Day Happy Hour’ and instead we plan to phlock at some free outdoor live music events. You can bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and coolers with soft drinks, water, juice, etc. (alcohol may or may not be allowed, see below)
Here are the details -
JUNE
Sunday, June 28th, 7PM
The WannaBeatles (http://www.thewannabeatles.com/) perform at the Crockett Park Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series in Brentwood at 1400 Volunteer Parkway near the Crockett Park Elementary School. The concert is free and outdoors so bring lawn chairs, coolers (no alcohol or glass but that rule has been questioned, see below) and a picnic basket to “Come Together” for an evening of Beatles music performed by Grammy and Emmy award winning artists. (I have seen these guys perform and they are really “FAB” - Mike) Here is a link to a map to Crockett Park -

I’m looking forward to these events and hope to see a lot of y’all come hang out with us.

ps, There have been some questions regarding alcohol at the Crockett Park/Wannabeatles show June 28 because Brentwood parks are not part of Nashville Metro parks. I went to Brentwood City Hall and asked if alcohol is allowed in Crockett Park. I was told that technically it is not allowed (because it is a ‘family friendly’ park) but as long as pholks are behaving and being discrete about it they have not been enforcing the rule. They encourage pholks to not use glass containers because of the chance of breakage and leaving glass pieces on the lawn. (I’m taking the safe option and only bringing water and Pepsi - Mike)
For the Red Caboose Park show I called two Nashville park telephone numbers and went to the Bellevue Community Center beside Red Caboose Park to ask about alcohol in the park. One person told me pholks do it discretely even though the law forbids it and two people told me you will be asked to leave and maybe even be fined for having alcohol in a metro park. (I think bring alcohol at your own risk - Mike)
